LOCO Roller Derby plays the "Flat-Track" style roller derby and look to the rules and regulations set out by the Women's Flat-Track Derby Association (WFTDA).
If you are on Facebook, visit our Page. (Our upcoming events are posted there too!!)
To play or practice roller derby, you are required to have the following equipment:
- Roller skates (old-school, quad-style; roller blades will only be allowed to get you started)
- Helmet (go for a multi-impact type - these have foam padding inserts instead of styrofoam)
- Mouth guard
- Elbow pads
- Knee pads
- Wrist guards
We now have loaner skates + gear if you are interested in giving it a shot before investing in your own gear! Please email us in advance with your shoe size so we can bring you a pair of loaner skates.
You will be required to wear a mouthguard - "boil & bite" types can be purchased at most sporting good stores for around $10. Please also bring a water bottle and your health card for the waiver.
We practice every Wednesday evening at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate (110 Doon Road Kitchener). We're thrilled to have a practice space that is in town, and on bus routes, to make skating more accessible to all.
Don't hesitate to pop us an email if you have any more questions
